Do I have to be an esthetician or have any type of medical background to learn to be a laser tattoo removal specialist?

No, it is not necessary or required for you to be an esthetician or have any type of medical education before taking our training. We have taught students from a range of careers, ages, and backgrounds. Your success will ultimately come down to how motivated you are to learn and how well you can adapt to the hands-on portion of the training.

Can I learn everything I need to know in a two-day training?

Yes, it is possible to learn all you will need to know to start your career in laser tattoo removal. Even though the course consists of two-days with Lorenzo, you will begin your training on-line from home prior to attending class. This will be your introduction to the type of laser technology and terminology that will be used during your enrollment. In Lorenzo’s many years of teaching tattoo removal he has never had a student who felt like their education was insufficient. This is largely due to Lorenzo’s commitment to post-graduation mentoring, and continued education through on-line seminars which alumni really appreciate. We want every student to walk away from class knowing that they will always have someone to help them with questions or concerns that may arise.

What type of equipment will I be learning on?

Here at ILA, we only teach students using the most advanced lasers on the market. Each class is equiped with the safest, multi-wavelength aesthetic laser designed to offer maximum power and versatility for a broad range of applications on all skin types. Currently we train on; the new PicoWay by Syneron/Candela, Quanta Q+C, Cynosure Rev-Lite, Cynosure PicoSure, and the newly designed Lutronic Spectra.

ILA can also provide training on almost any laser on the market, but a request must be made at least one month prior to the start of class.

Will I need a medical director and what are my state's requirements?

Some states in U.S. require you to have a medical director while others do not. A medical director is an on or off-site Doctor who is part of your staff. Most medical directors are paid a small monthly fee to provide guidance, and to establish clinical protocols. In the U.S. every state has their own set of regulations so it is wise to contact Lorenzo personally or check with your local medical board and/or the Radiation Safety Licensing Branch for a full description of your state's requirements. (Canada and Mexico have no rules or regulations limiting who can own the business or operate as a tattoo removal

After taking your course, will I be certified to provide tattoo removal procedures?

Yes. Here at ILA all of our graduates receive the honor of being deemed a Certified Laser Operator. We are the only laser training program and school in the world that can offer this type of certification. Every other laser school will have their own form of certification, but by being a CLO it shows that you have graduated and attended ILA and were educated by Lorenzo Kunze, II  a well known and trusted leader educator in the laser industry. The CLO moniker is very important and sought after by clinic owners and medical professionals who are looking to hire a certified tattoo removal specialist. This certification lets them know that you have had the most advanced and professional training possible. By being certified to practice laser tattoo removal you and your company will be allowed to be insured and it will also make it a lot easier for you to acquire a medical director if needed.

What’s the difference between ILA and other laser schools?

The expertise and versatility of ILA's staff sets it self apart from other tattoo removal training programs. Lorenzo's exposure and experience in this industry is unmatched. He has been the head tattoo removal instructor for some of the top laser manufacturers and colleges in the world. Lorenzo and his family have been teaching in this industry for over 65 years and ILA is committed to maintaining the same high standards of education which have made them an authority in laser aesthetics. ILA prides it self on being the only training program that specializes in teaching laser tattoo removal and tattoo removal alone, unlike other programs which only offer it as a small portion of your education. ILA offers student's the opportunity to refine their skills in a particular industry without having to pay for training on other aesthetic procedures. Unlike other training programs, ILA is not affiliated or sponsored by any laser manufactures. Our tuition may be a little more expensive, but we will not use our classroom as a sales floor. Rather, Lorenzo will discuss the pros and cons of different lasers with you, in order to find the best option to benefit your laser practice and your patients. Finally, ILA is the only training program that has multiple locations, making it very easy for students to get a quality education close to home.
